Ahmedabad and Its Deep Roots With The Indian History!

Gujarat is one such state that is filled with a rich cultural background. It has been ruled by the Marathas, the Rajwadas, Mughals and the British in the end. This is one reason why the place has a lot of history attached with it. It is the largest city of Gujarat that is located on the banks of river Sabarmati. The Dandi March that took place during the pre-independence is very well known. The place has been of great economic importance ever since it was established.

The earliest recorded fact of the city can be traced from the 12th century under the Chalukya dynasty. The present city was founded by Ahmed Shah the first, who is responsible for number of forts and establishments. The Jama Masjid is one of the greatest establishments from his time.

After the rule of Ahmed shah the first and his successors, the place saw a serious crisis of economy and went under unstable condition. Then place was also ruled by the Mughals and the Marathas jointly and it recovered some of its lost glory. But it progressed finally under the British rule.

During the British rule, the city became a very important place for the independence struggle and we can give credits to mahatmas Gandhi and his salt movement for that. We Indians were not allowed to produce salt and hence Gandhi ji decided to fight against it. He and his followers lead a march very famously known as the Dandi March. The march started from the Sabarmati Ashram to Sabarmati River where Gandhi ji produced salt and broke the law, hence giving the Indian their rights back.
