Streetwear is arguably one of the most popular brands out there. Streetwear can be expensive and it can be cheap. It all just depends on who you buy it from as well as where you buy it from. There have been many luxury brands that have collaborated with some of the best brands out there. Here are some of the brands that you need to be wearing if you adore the streetwear style.
We start with one of the biggest (if not the biggest) streetwear brands that are out there. If you ask anyone to name a streetwear brand, they will probably say Supreme instinctively. They have been around in the streetwear business for a very long time now. Originally, a skateboard label, which shocked the United States and soon became a brand that was high in demand. Their quality of clothing is well respected. However, the price is not a selling point for Supreme.
Supreme is a brand that, although they are expensive, you are paying for the limited drops. Yes, they have their basic t-shirts and hoodies which, are good quality. But, they often release different styles or collaborations with other brands. Some of the brands that they have collaborated with in previous years are North Face and Gucci. Yes, Gucci decided to collaborate with a streetwear brand.
A slightly less expensive brand compared to Supreme. Stussy built the foundations of streetwear that even the best brands still follow now. Another thing that should be mentioned about this brand is that it started in the 1980s. Originally, Shawn Stussy scribbled his name on surfboards that became extremely popular with surfers. Now it is a global streetwear brand across the world.
Due to the respect that they have gained over the years, Stussy has collaborated with many major brands. Comme des Garcons, Carhartt WIP and Bathing Ape are just some of the brands that have worked with Stussy. Dior is another brand that collaborated with Stussy.
The United Kingdom decided to have their take on Streetwear with Palace. It is safe to say that it is the classic UK style that we expected. Went for tracksuits and heavily printed clothing. One thing that the UK love is tracksuits, especially when it comes to streetwear. They have a website store as well as many stores around the world. It started back in 2009 and soon became one of the UK’s most popular brands to wear for streetwear. One thing to mention is that it is expensive.
Japanese streetwear is one of the most popular styles for this trend. Neighborhoods are popular in the United Kingdom. Shinsuke Takizawa is the founder of this brand and has been since 1994. International students brought this style over to the UK and are massively rated. Neighborhood has collaborated with some brands such as Adidas, Vans and Dr Martens. They tend to be dark clothes as well with their brand name all over the clothing.
Nike is one of those brands that is recognised worldwide for many things. Usually, it’s sportswear but, here in the UK, it is often worn as streetwear. Nike is great at plain tracksuits and it is something that you will see a lot. Even their workout clothing is spotted out on the streets as well. Nike is also recognised for its trainers/ shoes and competing with Adidas to try and outdo them. Nike doesn’t create your usual style of streetwear and targets the more sporty look.
Carhartt, originally for workmen, soon became a well-known streetwear brand. Even in their name, it stands for work in progress. The sub-label was launched in 1994 and it moved away from the traditional style that they did for their workwear. Again, another great brand in the United Kingdom.
The North Face
North Face is another major brand that has collaborated with many of the mainstream streetwear brands. The North Face originally had a target audience that was interested in mountaineering/ hiking. Now, it is heavily liked by the streetwear community. That includes both those whole wear as well as those who make it. Supreme and Gucci have collaborated with this brand and are worn by many celebrities. It is hard to argue why celebrities like this brand so much until you feel the quality.
Back to the UK streetwear style to discuss another sports brand. Adidas, as mentioned earlier, are the biggest competitor of Nike. Both brands explore the different styles of casual wear and sportswear. They also provide clothing at roughly the same price as Adidas and arguably the same quality. Adidas also makes tracksuits, so you can see why they compete with each other so much.
Their sportswear is high-quality clothing and is something that both Adidas and Nike put plenty of research into to make it one of the best out there. How do you choose between the two? Both of their styles are slightly different when it comes to their casual wear and trainers. So really, it all depends on the type of style that you prefer.
Streetwear is a massive community that has dominated the fashion industry. The best part about this style is that it is casual clothing, at a premium price, that looks stylish. This is why there are so many celebrities and sports stars that get on board with this amazing trend. Another great positive about this style is the fact there are so many brands that are getting on board with it. Whether it is a brand that is collaborating with other streetwear companies or they are making their style with a twist.
