Should We Stay in Bed and Breakfasts

For people who are reluctant to stay in big hotels and resorts, they typically choose inns as an alternative. However, inns are not the only place where we could get simpler place to stay. Bed and breakfasts could be something that we need to consider. Compared to inns, bed and breakfasts are not much different in terms of accommodation. However, one big difference is that we could get prepared meals, often cooked with unique recipes that are passed down through the generations by the family of the owner. Many inns provide meals as well, but they are usually not included in the overall prices and simply offered as an option. In bed and breakfasts, we could expect to get freshly cooked meals. Some bed and breakfasts, put an age restriction on children, as an example, they allow only children above 12 years old. There’s a purpose of this rule, because bed and breakfasts are intended as a quieter place to stay, where couples want to spend time in places where they can unwind, free of high activities and noises. Obviously, high-action kids will cause so much disruption.

Should We Stay in Bed and Breakfasts

Staying in inns can be rather different at big hotels, so we shouldn’t to have a room like in Sheraton. There won’t be soundproofed walls and a horde of hotel staffs that will help us. Also playing any loud music or turning the TV loudly after 10PM won’t win any favour from the owner and other guests. Each guest also needs to cooperate to create comfortable surroundings. Also, while owners of bed and breakfasts will greet our arrivals during normal hours, it would be rather tricky to go bed and breakfasts at midnight. These places don’t always be staffed round the clock and we couldn’t expect to see everything prepared and ready. However, we could still call the owner and ask whether it is acceptable to arrive outside normal working hours.

The price of room in bed and breakfasts is negotiable, because the person we talk to is likely the owner. They may make a decision on the spot; if we are agree to bring more people into their place. Often, we could get better deals by asking nicely. However, it should be noted that many bed and breakfasts have only a few rooms, so we shouldn’t haggle too aggressively that leaves little margin for the owner. Staying in bed and breakfasts could save us a bundle, especially if we book months in advance. This is particularly true of owners struggle to fill the room during off-season. In this case, we could get better deal if we travel out of season or mid-week. As comparison, some hotels could be filled by business travellers during mid-week days and weekend travellers at the other days. Overall, we would love staying at bed and breakfasts; they are very affordable and could offer us very interesting rates. They also offer tons of variety compared to hotels with their rather bland rooms.
