Around 200 Skiing Santas Managed To Deal With Slopes In Maine

Around 200 people dressed up as Santa Claus registered for 17th Annual Santa Sunday, which is organized for charity purpose. In this event, people have to donate at least $15 for charity and they get to enjoy skiing for free in return. The event was hosted by Sunday River for a good cause in which around 180 Saint Nick wannabes performed that was not for usual people as it was a more challenging terrain than any usual bunny slope. Although many people fell in this skiing event, not a single Santa was harmed with injury. Yelena Walsh from Boston who has been participating in this event for the last four years also said that it is a good way to enjoy the holiday season as it is a great fun. A professional skier from Russia, namely, Walsh also told her technique to avoid any damage or risk in such crowd of red suit skiers and how to run ahead of the crowd. As soon as the registrations for this event were started, it was filled up in just few minuted because of the popularity of this event. In this particular event, a person participating needs to donate a minimum of $15 money and in return, they don’t only get free of cost skiing, but also gets another ticket good from 16th December. This Santa Sunday event is aimed at raising money for the Sunday River Community fund, which is a local charity society and according to the officials, this event raised around total of $2845.

The aim of community fund is to offer financial aid to all local organizations that want to improve the quality of life of regions. Some of the past recipients are Bethe Library Association, Lifeflight Foundation, Bryant Pond Learning center and the town of Bethel’s Recreation department. A spokeswoman at Sunday River told that the challenging trails in the event were not proved more difficult for Santas participated this year. She also told that this year, there were many tumbles as compared to the last year’s event.
