Jet lag affects everyone in a different way it can be extreme fatigue or indigestion or bowel problems, etc. It depends on your age, state of health and stress levels.

There are some tips which you can follow to get over jet lag. Remember, it is like a Doctor’s prescription, follow as written, you will be thankful later.

Keep Your Schedule Relaxed

Now that you are all prepped up for your holiday, and you know that you have a long-haul flight, you might want to keep the fatigue away. Just keep yourself free a day before your flight. To get used to the new time zone make sure you eat and sleep well.

Sleep Tight Before Your Flight

People often sleep few hours before a long flight because; either they are too excited or too much freaked out about the long flight. Do not deliberately tire yourself. Get a good night’s sleep before you fly. It will help you with the jet lag naturally.

Choose Morning Arrivals Than At Night

If you have planned your holiday months ago then try to opt for a flight which arrives in the daylight. You will be more excited to stay up to see the morning glory of your destination. And you would know that you have got a full day ahead of you.

Split Up The Trip

Try to give your trip a small stopover. This is necessary to get over the jet lag or the jet lag you were about to experience. This will cost you a little more but trust me it would be worth it.

Avoid Hitting The Bar

Just because you are going on a vacation doesn’t mean that you go crazy before flying. It is a simple no to pre-flight gin and tonic. It might not affect you on the ground but at altitude, it will increase tiredness and cause dehydration. You cannot beat that jet lag ever then.

Sleeping Pills Are A Big No-No

If you think you will sleep during the long-haul flight and wake up fresh before your landing? You got it wrong, all wrong. Pills will make fuzzy when you land. Instead of pills you can have your own herbal tea, or find any other natural way to take a relaxing nap.

Say No To Caffeine

Caffeinated cold and hot beverages like coffee, cola or energy drinks will affect your ability to sleep and increase jet lag recovery time. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking more water than all these drinks. It is a great way to offset the effects of jet lag.

Set Your Watch

The moment you settle down in the plane, change your time to the destination’s time zone. This will align you psychologically. But do it once you are in the plane not before that or else you will miss the flight.

Keep Moving During The Flight

There is no rule to be seated during the entire flight. Move around, do some stretches and avoid DVT. Keep the blood circulation, otherwise you will have to face jet lag.

Eat Right

Eat light and eat right. You can either eat according to your meal plans or you can start eating according to the new time zone. It is a bit of a hassle but trusts me, it’s worth it.

Soak In The Sun

As soon as you land, you should take a walk in the sun; soak yourself to feel better and energized.

Sleep If Necessary

If you are not jet lagged but you have plans for the day or night, you might want to take a small nap to get back the energy.
